It’s a Great Apple Bake-Off at this year’s La Faîs’sie d’Cidre at Hamptonne

Saturday 18 October from 10:00 – 19:00 & Sunday 19 October from 10:00 – 17:00

Sponsored by Jersey Tourism
La Faîs’sie d’Cidre The countdown to this year’s La Faîs’sie d’Cidre has begun. In just eight days, the annual celebration of Jersey’s rich heritage of growing apples and making cider will kick off at Hamptonne Country Life Museum, and this year there’s a great baking spin. The Great  Apple Cake Baking Competition will join the weekend’s jam packed programme of traditional cider making, children’s activities, live music, autumnal arts &  crafts, dancing, Living History and of course, plenty of local cider for adults to sample.
This year’s festival will take place at Hamptonne Country Life Museum on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 from 10:00 – 17:00, with an extension to 19:00 on the Saturday evening for musical entertainment.
Sponsored by Jersey Tourism and now in its 19th year, La Faîs’sie d’Cidre is an essential date in the community calendar. Islanders and visitors alike can experience some of Jersey’s oldest traditions, enjoy live entertainment, sample Genuine Jersey Produce and adults can taste speciality Ciders & Perry from CAMRA (Jersey), Cidre dé Jèrri from La Robeline, samples from the Jersey Cider Orchard Trust and last year’s Hamptonne vintage cider.
Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 from 10:00 - 17:00 - La Faîs'sie D'Cidre
Come to La Faîs'sie d'Cidre and celebrate Jersey's rich heritage of growing apples and making cider. The highlight is traditional cider making – the magnificent sight of a horse crushing apples, then the building up of layers of pulp on a Press to extract juice.
There will be entertainment and live music throughout both days and a lot to see and do: children’s games and activities, including arts and crafts with Bianca Padidar, juggling and plate spinning with Danny Faulkner, balloon magician Royston South, face painting and giant bubble blowing!
Local, seasonal treats including a Genuine Jersey craft market and demonstrations; Jersey Beekeepers and honey display; apple juicing; bread making; Jersey Wonders; experts identifying apples and advising on growing; Hamptonne Café and food stalls; cider from CAMRA and La Robeline; archive photographs; the Big Draw and lots more…definitely something for everyone to enjoy.

Saturday 18 October 17:00 - 19:00 - Live Music and more
Stay on at Hamptonne after La Faîs’sie d’Cidre to enjoy cider and live music. Jersey Heritage will be celebrating after the cider making with entertainers and musicians including Friends of the Tone Deaf and the Jerriais band Badlabecques who will be performing the finale from 18:00 to 19:00.
There will be delicious, local food including roast pork, seafood and vegetarian goodies; plus Genuine Jersey craft stalls and of course plenty of ciders and Perry available from the CAMRA tent and La Robeline trailer. Come and enjoy an October evening in the unique, beautiful countryside setting of Hamptonne.
